Gillette Products You Don’t Have to Sweat Over

During the past year and a half, I’ve enjoyed a great working relationship with the people at Gillette.

I have become a fan of the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Razor and have shared a few with friends and even my dad, who last time I saw him, was still using the one I gave him. The ProGlide is the only razor I ever plan to use again.  Seriously.  I’ve not cut my face in more than a year and that was a daily occurrence when I was using those cheap-ole Bic Razors.  No more of that.

In the past few months, they’ve also been generous and asked me to try two other products of theirs–the Odor Shield Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant and the Odor Shield Body Wash.

Odor Shield Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant

I have no problem with either product and have given them both a chance.  I’ve long been one to use Sure roll on so switching to something else was a huge loyalty issue.  I also have skin sensitivities so that was another issue to consider.  I have used Old Spice in the past and that’s caused incredible rashes, etc. so I was leery of trying something else than what I already knew worked.

To be honest, I had some of the same issues with the Odor Shield Anti-Perspirant & Deodorantt, but not enough to tell anyone not to use it.  It did what it was supposed to.  It kept me dry.

The Body Wash

Okay, first of all, I do historically fast showers.  Soap?!!  I am a guy, you know.  I use the body wash during some showers but I don’t use it every time.  Ironically, I’m not real crazy about the smell of it.

Tips for Guys Who Don’t Want to Stink

But like the fokes at Gillette reminded me, no one likes stressful moments – especially those guys who are heavy sweaters.  Personally, I’d rather be freezing cold than hot. And I tend to have those Broadcast News sweating spells when I get too hot or too stressed.  It’s very uncomfortable.  So is not having shaved for a day or so and getting hot.

In literature Gillette sent me to consider while using their products, they also reminded me about some tips provided by Dr. Avery Gilbert.

These are things we all can do to keep the odors of living at bay:

·         Stock up on greens at your grocery – A diet with a based on greens (parsley, cilantro, celery, mint) can act as an internal deodorizer while strong-smelling foods (garlic, curry or onions) seep through pores, creating a more unpleasant odor.
·         Opt for antibacterial – Although fragrant soaps and sweeter smelling gels might seem like a good way to get rid of your body odor, many only mask the odor causing bacteria.  Using an antibacterial soap regularly or pre-moistened wipes during a workout can reduce the amount of bacteria causing body odor.
·         Arm yourself with the right products – Bacteria has a hard time breeding in dry areas; be sure to immediately apply underarm antiperspirant to clean, dry armpits.  It helps to eliminate odor and releases a fresh scent in its place.
·         Dress Appropriately – Be mindful of the materials you wear when working out.  Nylon and polyester can impede airflow and prevent sweat from evaporating.   When that sweat doesn’t evaporate, it feeds germs and bacteria that cause odor.  Look for natural materials that breathe, such as cotton.

He also suggested one other: Going Hairless! “Not every guy is up for this, but shaving your armpits can actually prevent bacteria from accumulating and can significantly reduce sweat and odor.”

Uh, I’m not going there, or any lower, either….

Give these products from Gillette a try.  The Fushion Pro-Glide Razor is the world’s best.  The deodorant and body wash are good products, too, and worthy of your consideration.

Gillette ProGlide Ultimate Summer Job Crew Adam & Jason Visit Austin, TX

Jul 7, 2010 by

For the third Tuesday in a row, my daughter Chandler, 13, and I headed off on an adventure, this one to Austin, TX to meet Adam and Jason, the two guys with the coolest jobs in America–they’ve been picked, and rightly so, by  Gillette to travel the country this summer and talking about the benefits of using the revolutionary men’s razor, the Gillette Fusion ProGlide. (Check out their own Blog!)

You will remember my incredible adventure back in late May when I flew to NYC to meet with other men bloggers to talk with Gillette about their then-to-be-released ProGlide at Yankee’s Stadium.  I learned so much about the science of shaving that day.  After two hours, we then went and watched the Yanks get beaten by the Blue Rays.

So when I got a call Friday saying Jason and Adam were going to be in Austin, all I needed to know from Gillette was where to meet them. (They did put two tanks of gas in my car to get me to and from…)  They had decided upon The La Zona Rosa where Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros were playing.  I’d never heard “Home” before, but now, given that I used to live in Alabama, I keep hearing Jade singing, “Alabama Arkansas, I do love my ma and pa…”  You’ll hear Adam do his version in the video.

We’d hoped to have the shaving station on display across the street from La Zona Rosa, but it wasn’t meant to be.  Nonetheless, we were able to meet with many of the guys standing around the area waiting for the show, and gave them free ProGlides.  The irony is that it doesn’t look like Edward Sharpe has shaved, let alone had a haircut or maybe even bathed, in weeks, so when it came to the bands fans hanging out for the show, several of them didn’t have shaving on their minds either.

I really have enjoyed my ProGlide and I’ve been tempted to set up the camera in the bathroom and do a video using it.  But so far, I’ve saved you all from seeing that!

But like I’ve noted here before, I have enjoyed the vibrating function of the razor.  The new blade configuration lifts each hair to cut it closer and closer and I’ve been getting the smoothest shaves over the past month.  And what used to happen whenever I previously would pull out one of those disposable razors–gashes in my face, has been eliminated.  I have four times more cutting power on my face and have yet to injure myself.

Jason and Adam are two of the coolest guys I’ve met in a long time.  They really do have the coolest job in America.  And like I’ve mentioned with my friends Carly from Indiana, etc. they’re living a great life adventure every day.   And you can tell that in just how they talk, act and hey, Adam even broke out this four-foot-long skate board and took it for a spin there in front of La Zona Rosa.

I encourage you to check them out on their website, and see when they’re going to be in your town.  They’re a hoot and you’ll also get to meet Cory, their driver and Cali, who seems to know everyone in America.

And more than anything, you need to check out this great new product for men.  That is, if you’re wanting to look sharp, in a different way than Edward Sharpe….  🙂 (I did download their latest off iTunes when I got HOME last night and I’m actually playing it now as I write.  Worth checking out…  Alabama Arkansas, I do love my Ma and Pa, Not as much as I do love you…”

Now Chandler and I need to figure out where to go next Tuesday night!

I’m really enjoying VIBRATING products for men

Jun 2, 2010 by

Oh, I just love a good vibrating product.

There’s just nothing like the sensation of mechanical tingling up and down your nerves.

Over the past two and a half months, I’ve really enjoyed daily use of two very special vibrating products and I keep both of them in my bedroom.   Well, they’re kept up in my bathroom. One of them I keep put up in the cupboard.  It’s not that I’d be embarrassed for anyone to see these two products.  But you know, there’s just an element of privacy that I’d like to keep. And what if it fell into the wrong hands? One of the products penetrates deeply when vibrating.

During the day, when I need to feel better about myself, I just go in there and turn one of them on and in a few seconds, I start to get that wonderful sensation that only vibrating can bring.  You know, it just a comfortable feeling; Just a soothing, special feeling.

Okay, now that all of you have your heads in the gutter and your hands reaching for something that vibrates in your own homes, it’s time to come clean.

Scroll down….

The Gillette Fusion Power

After my trip two weeks ago to New York City on behalf of Proctor and Gamble and Gillette, I went out and bought a new razor.   I got the Gillette Fusion Power and it really has a batter powered vibrator built into it that one uses while shaving.  One of the guys asked about this feature in the up coming Gillette Fusion ProGlide, which is supposed to arrive here from New York any day now, and they said it was part of the science of shaving.

And I have to say, having used this razor for about a week now, the cuts, nicks and outright pain of shaving has gone away.  Once something I dreaded, I now feel better about a good shave.  I’d been using a two-blade disposable off and on for the past few years, but I’m really happy with what is now happening with my vibrating product.  The shave definitely is closer because the razor has five blades and it has ergonomic rubber handles on it that are designed for the different ways I hold it while I’m shaving.

The vibrating also makes it more comfortable while shaving.  I don’t mash my face as hard with it when it’s vibrating like I would have with a disposable razor and like I said, it’s been a much less bloody affair.

So moms/ladies planning on getting your dad/guy something for Father’s Day, I’d recommend the vibrating Gillette razors.  Check out the ProGlide when it’s released on June 6th.  I’ll upgrade as soon as mine arrives.

It’s really been worth the sensations.  Ah…..

The ORAL-B Pulsar Toothbrush

Soon after moving out of the house, I began to wonder where my toothbrush might have been put or used for before I left for safer environs, so I decided I needed to get a new one.

That led me to Walmart (According to the AP Stylebook, that’s now done with no hyphen)  and that night I bought the razor mentioned above and I got this new tooth brush.  Like I’ve said before, they both VIBRATE.

According to Oral-B, Pulsar has soft vibrating bristles that help break up plaque between teeth. Just turn it on and brush as you would with a regular manual brush. Plus, Pulsar’s pressure-sensitive split head adjusts to the contours of your teeth to clean hard-to-reach places while moderating the amount of pressure applied to teeth and gums.

The result is an effective clean and an outstanding sensory experience.

  • Penetrates deep between teeth
  • Sweeps away food and plaque from the tooth surface
  • Adjusts to the contours of your teeth
  • Moderates the amount of pressure applied to your teeth and gums

I’ve really enjoyed using this toothbrush and it does provide a comforting sensation while in use.

Toothbrush Express says says it’s good practice to replace your toothbrush:

  • At least every three months
  • When bristles begins to show wear
  • After an illness such as a cold or flu

And now after knowing you can vibrate your face and teeth, makes me wonder what else out there would be good for vibrating….
